Samuel and Tanner lengthen their loan dealsReading duo Craig Tanner and Dominic Samuel have extended their loan spells at Plymouth Argyle and Gillingham respectively.
Tanner, who joined the Pilgrims on the eve of the new campaign, has played a prominent role for the club over the last few months and has helped the team to the summit of League Two. The 21-year-old, who spent a spell with AFC Wimbledon last season, has made 29 appearances for the Devon side and netted on four occasions.
His loan extension, which was signed on Wednesday morning, means that he will remain a part of Derek Adams’ side until the end of the 2015/16 season, and will continue to play his part in the Pilgrims’ promotion push.
Striker Samuel, meanwhile, has extended his loan at Priestfield until 28th January. The forward made an instant impact when he netted just six minutes into his Gills debut against Bury – he has found the net on four occasions for the Kent club over the course of nine appearances. Gillingham are currently on a four-game winning streak, just a point behind League One leaders Burton Albion.
Samuel had featured in the Royals’ opening two fixtures of the season – however an injury sustained in the Capital One Cup fixture in Colchester sidelined the striker. Since completing his rehab, he has found regular action with the Gills and could line up against Wigan, Doncaster and Peterborough in the coming weeks.
A number of players have returned to Hogwood over the past few days following the expiration of their loan contracts at other clubs. These are Simon Cox (Bristol City), Tariqe Fosu (Fleetwood), Aaron Kuhl (Dundee United), Sean Long (Luton), Rob Dickie and Andrija Novakovich (Cheltenham), Dominic Hyam (Basingstoke), Lewis Collins and Bogdan Vastsuk (Farnborough), Jake Sheppard (Hayes & Yeading) and Noor Husin and Zak Jules (Hemel Hempstead).
