U18s bound for Molineux in Youth Cup fifth round

26 January 2016

Date set for the fifth-round tie

Our Academy’s Under-18 side will travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday 5th February (kick-off 7pm) in fifth round of this season’s FA Youth Cup.

The tie will be contested at Molineux – and less than 24 hours later, the senior Royals and Wolves sides will be meeting in the Sky Bet Championship at Madejski Stadium!

It’s sure to be a well-contested affair in the Midlands… Wolves currently sit fifth in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League (North) division after their 22 fixtures, which mirrors exactly the same spot which Reading occupy in the South division!

Our Youth Cup campaign almost came to an early exit – but a late, late leveller from Gabriel Osho against Sheffield United took our third-round tie to extra time, paving the way to round four.  Fulham, hosts at that next stage, were felled 3-1 at Motspur Park by the young Royals.

Wolves have breezed through their fixtures to date.  MK Dons were on the end of a 3-0 reverse in the third round, while this season’s surprise package Met Police finally had their campaign ended with a 5-0 defeat in the Midlands.

The prize on offer for the winning side is a trip to either AFC Wimbledon or Chelsea in the quarter-final.

Supporters will be able to attend to get behind our boys at Molineux – once prices are arranged, we will update this article with full details.
