Vydra ‘flying’ ahead of Owls visit

Royals striker full of confidence for Madejski Stadium clash

Royals striker Matej Vydra is flying high after his midweek hat-trick at Madejski Stadium, and can’t wait to get back out in front of the fans against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Vydra netted a second-half treble in the FA Cup replay against Huddersfield - and that has given the Reading forward a real lift ahead of a tough game with sixth-placed Owls.
“I feel after the hat-trick I have a lot of confidence,” said the Czech Republic international.

"It was great to hear the fans singing my name, I felt like I was flying on Tuesday when I heard them, and I still do now.  I think I was thinking too much about scoring goals but after the goals against Huddersfield I feel good things will come now.

“I’m really enjoying my time at Reading; even before I was not scoring goals I was enjoying myself because football is my life and I want to be here.”

Heading into the Sky Bet Championship fixture, there has been a good atmosphere in the Reading dressing room according to the 23-year-old, who says the team are in buoyant mood.

"There is a good atmosphere in the changing room.  I feel there is more to come from us, we want to win, but we will see after Sheffield Wednesday.

“I’m looking forward to the game; Tuesday was just one match so I have to show what I can do again.  Even after three games close together I am not tired, and I'm ready to play because I feel like I am flying right now."

Vydra is enjoying working with manager Brian McDermott and says the gaffer is helping the team improve as the Royals look to push up the table.

"The manager is trying to help everyone and to get across how he wants the team to play, I enjoy working with him," continued the striker.

"He is great to talk to and is good with the team as a whole and with every player individually."
