Madejski Stadium to host 4 games in Premier League 2

21 July 2016

Fixtures revealed for our young players in 2016/17

The fixture list for the revamped Premier League 2 – which replaces the Barclays U21 Premier League for the coming season, and will now feature squads of players aged 23 and under – has been revealed…

… and our counterpart teams from Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Sunderland will all be visitors at Madejski Stadium in 2016/17!

Like last season, home fixtures for Martin Kuhl’s youngsters will be split between Wycombe’s Adams Park, our Hogwood Park training facility (behind closed doors) and the home of the Royals at Madejski Stadium.

The first of those fixtures will take place on Friday 26th August as Man City come to town for a 7pm kick-off under the Madejski Stadium floodlights.

Chelsea also visit our main stadium on Monday 19th September, and then in the new year Madejski Stadium will play host to Arsenal (Monday 10th April) as well as our youngsters’ final outing of the campaign against Sunderland (Monday 8th May).

Our first game of the campaign comes away at Arsenal on Friday 12th August (hosted at Boreham Wood) – we take on a Gunners side that was promoted back to the top flight via the U21 Premier League Division 2 play-offs last seasons, beating Aston Villa in the final.

Once again our fledgling players will be able to test themselves against some of the brightest young talent on these shores as part of just 12 top-tier teams in the country.

The 22 league fixtures have all been laid out – and we will also soon be adding various cup matches to the calendar as well.  Later today we will bring you more information about the cup competitions that our youngsters are currently scheduled to take part in.
