Midfielder opts to switch to Aston VillaReading Football Club can confirm that midfielder Aaron Tshibola has now agreed terms and completed a move to Aston Villa, signing a four-year contract at Villa Park.
The Reading Academy product has opted to leave Madejski Stadium after eight years as a Royal and the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the transfer late last week.
Tshibola made his first team debut for the Royals as a late substitute away to Nottingham Forest in August 2014 and, after returning from a lengthy loan spell at Hartlepool United the following year, he went on to make a further 8(+8) appearances for Reading last season – despite ankle and hamstring injuries curtailing his 2015-16 campaign.
“Aaron made it clear to us that he wanted to leave this summer, explaining he felt his career lay elsewhere,” said Chief Executive Nigel Howe.
“We negotiated with a number of interested clubs and rejected a number of bids which fell below our valuation of the player as part of that negotiation process. However, we have now reached an agreement with Aston Villa which we believe represents good value for our football club.
“We will continue to support the new manager as he looks to further strengthen his first team squad in the coming weeks. And, of course, we would like to wish Aaron the very best of luck in the future.”
