Check out the Madejski Men!

10 June 2016

Introducing the Madejski Men section of our website

May 3rd 1998 was the date that the last ever competitive match was held at Elm Park - a stadium that this football club called home for a grand total of 102 years.

A multi-million pound investment had been made prior to that date, and on August 22nd 1998 Madejski Stadium opened its doors to host Luton Town in its inaugural showing of Division Two football.

Since that 3-0 victory 18 years ago, the Mad Stad has been witness to 1,195 goals, 723 of which have been scored by players adorning the blue and white hoops of the Royals.

To pay recognition to those who have represented the club at Madejski Stadium, we have put together a ‘Madejski Men’ section on our website which highlights the players’ careers that have played here, and in particular their stats contribution to the team on our home turf at Madejski.

As of the end of the 2015/16 season, 212 different players have pulled on the blue and white hoops for Reading Football Club on our patch, with the latest being Academy graduate Josh Barrett against Preston last April.

Head over now to our Madejski Men section on our website to reminisce over players, both past and present, which have dressed the colours of the Royals in a competitive match at Madejski Stadium!
