Yann fully focused on the next

Frenchman previews Terriers trip

Rather understandably, much of the focus this week is on Friday-night’s FA Cup meeting with Crystal Palace – we’re looking set to welcome a sell-out crowd to Madejski Stadium for the quarter-final of the competition.

But before then, the Royals and some of our hardiest supporters will be making the lengthy round-trip to Huddersfield for a Championship meeting with the Terriers.

Striker Yann Kermorgant is ineligible for the cup meeting at the weekend after representing Bournemouth earlier in the tournament; even so, he feels that the team’s focus will be on the next game.

“Before Friday we have got a game on Tuesday, so I prefer to be focused on that game before we think about Friday,” said the French forward.

“I try to do my best every game – I am training to play the next game.  The manager will make his decisions and some changes, but I think our focus has to be on Tuesday and not on Friday.  You have to think about the league game first, and then the FA Cup game will come.  After the Tuesday game, then we will think about Friday.

“I am only thinking about the next game and trying to get three points.  We need to do our best to keep our unbeaten run, which is good.  Unfortunately against Fulham we dropped two points, but hopefully on Tuesday we can take three.

“It’s important to finish the season strongly; even if we don’t reach the play-offs this season, it is important to finish strong and prepare for next season.  If we carry on our unbeaten run, we could finish in a good position at the end of this season.”
