First pre-season fixture in place ahead of 2016-17

1 May 2016

Royals to take on Boreham Wood on Saturday 9th July, kick-off 3pm

Before this season has even reached its conclusion, next season’s pre-season preparations are already underway as we begin to build for 2016-17.

And we can now announce our first pre-season friendly of the summer – one of a string of pre-season games that our first team squad will take part in ahead of the new EFL campaign.

On Saturday 9th July, Brian McDermott’s first team squad will travel to Boreham Wood to take on the National League outfit at Meadow Park, kick-off 3pm.

Luke Garrard’s side secured their National League status yesterday with a 3-0 win away at Welling (with former Reading Academy man Clovis Kamdjo on the scoresheet) and, with their season now complete, they will look forward to facing the Royals in July.

Back in July 2014, a young Reading XI took on Boreham Wood in a pre-season encounter and drew – with the likes of Jake Cooper, Aaron Tshibola, Jack Stacey, Tariqe Fosu and Dominic Samuel involved that afternoon.

Details of further pre-season friendlies will be unveiled throughout the course of the coming weeks, so please stay tuned to the official website if you want to ensure you pencil every date into your diary this summer.
