Reading to take on Lincoln City in pre-season Sincil Bank clashFollowing news of an away trip to near neighbours Swindon and a Madejski Stadium curtain-raiser against AFC Bournemouth, we can now confirm another pre-season fixture this morning as Reading prepare for 2016-17 with a trip to Lincoln City.
Our first team will travel to Sincil Bank on Saturday 16th July, kick-off 3pm, to take part in the second pre-season friendly of the summer.
The Royals have not met the Imps, home or away, since the Tommy Burns era – in April 1999 a Darren Caskey double earned Reading a point in a 2-2 draw in Lincolnshire.
Earlier that same season Reading had welcome Lincoln to Madejski Stadium for the first and only time, beating their visitors 2-1 courtesy of goals from Neil Clement and Mass Sarr.
Danny Cowley’s side finished mid-table in the National League last season and will welcome the Royals as they look to mount another challenge to return to the Football League for the first time since relegation from League Two five years ago.
Reading have already confirmed three other pre-season fixtures – an away trip to National League outfit Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on Saturday 9th July, a visit to Swindon Town on Tuesday 19th July and a home encounter against Eddie Howe’s Cherries eight days before the new campaign begins.
Details of any further pre-season friendlies will be unveiled shortly, so please stay tuned to the official website if you want to ensure you pencil every date into your diary this summer.
Ticket prices for the Lincoln fixture and all of the club’s other pre-season matches will be announced in due course.
