Obita: “We’re ready to go”

Jordan Obita says Royals are raring to return to Championship action...

Royals full-back Jordan Obita is looking forward to a return to Championship action on Saturday, with the Royals aiming to continue where they left off in the Championship after three straight league wins.

The Academy graduate says the players who did not travel on international duty have been working hard during the break in fixtures to keep the positive momentum going within the squad.

“We’ve been on a great run, maybe the international break even came at the wrong time for us,” admitted Obita. “We’ve been working hard throughout the week though and are looking forward to Saturday so hopefully we can get that positive result.”

"It’s been a tough routine through the week, quite a few running drills and possession drills to keep us going and ticking over. We’ve had some time off over the week as well which is important so we can get that rest. We came back into training on Monday and we’re ready to go."

The weekend’s visitors to Madejski Stadium, Burton Albion, have enjoyed an impressive rise from non-league to the Championship in the last seven years - picking up some notable results so far this campaign.

Obita knows the Brewers will pose a difficult task but says the Royals are fully focused on implementing their game plan from the get-go on Saturday, and are determined to put more points on the board.

“The coaching staff have done some analysis on Burton and we’ve been working on shape early in the week deciding on how we will set up against them,” revealed the 22-year-old.

“What Burton have done has happened a few times in recent years with small clubs coming through the leagues and doing really well. But we’re at home and we want to dominate the game from the start. We want that three points and we really do need it as well.

“We want to win every single game, even if we draw that is a point on the table,” he continued. “If we go into Saturday and are positive and play the way we have been playing then we have a good chance.”
