Ahead of the game: Meeting the Villans under the lights...

18 October 2016

A preview of our midweek meeting with the Midlands club

Reading v Aston Villa
Madejski Stadium
Sky Bet Championship
Tuesday 18th October 2016, 8pm

It hasn’t been the most comfortable of starts to life in the second tier for the Villans, who were relegated to the Championship in the summer for the first time since 1988.

They sit towards the lower reaches of the division after their demotion last season, and ex-manager Roberto Di Matteo paid for the poor start with his job.

There’s a new man in place though – Steve Bruce, who has four promotions to the Premier League under his belt, takes charge of his first road-trip at the Villa helm.

We’re aiming to keep our unbeaten streak at Madejski Stadium going for a ninth straight game since the start of the 2016/17 campaign – and we’re expecting a bumper crowd to help get behind the Royal cause.

Tickets are still available for our clash with Aston Villa, and if you are a Member Card holder and buy your ticket in advance of three hours before kick-off, you will be eligible for a saving of £3 compared to matchday prices.

The Royals also have a special family section in the Eamonn Dolan Stand, with reduced ticket prices for you and your family.

For more information about ticket prices and how to purchase, click here.

Ticket Bundles are now also available to buy online!  Click here for more information about how you can buy your 4-Match Bundle and redeem games from wherever you are.

On a matchday, only very limited overflow parking is available at the stadium for £8 – we advise supporters to consider one of our off-site car parks. Non-Permit holders enter the Stadium via Northern Way only and Permit holders enter via Hurst Way and Northern Way.

If you have a child under the age of 12 in your car, you will be eligible to park in our special family parking area for £8 – spaces are available in advance by phoning the Ticket Office on 0118 968 1313 or visiting the Ticket Office in person. If purchasing in advance, parking permits will be posted or available for collection from the Main Ticket Office prior to matchday.

Andy Woolmer will be taking charge on Tuesday evening – the second time he’s been on the whistle for one of our games this season.  The other time was at the Cardiff City Stadium, when Yann Kermorgant’s late goal gave us three points in the Welsh capital.

Mr Woolmer will be assisted by Adam Crysell and John Flynn, as well as fourth official Andy Davies.

The Royals are favourites to take the three points from this fixture at odds of 6/4 - visiting Villa are 9/5 to win it, with a draw available at odds of 23/10 from EFL title partners Sky Bet.

Danny Williams, goalscorer at QPR, is 4/1 to hit the net at any time - George Evans, who netted late against Derby to salvage a draw in our last Madejski Stadium outing, is 9/2 to notch another.

There is a revamped concourse menu in place for the 2016/17 season, details of which can be found by clicking here.

Piglets, our pie supplier, are offering ‘pies of the month’ throughout the season – October’s offering is Ham Hock & Cheddar Cheese or Leek, Potato & Blue Cheese.  Click here to see all of our upcoming monthly offerings.
