Joey calls for consistency against Villa

Reading midfielder is hoping for a performance with result to match...

Reading midfielder Joey van den Berg is looking forward to what he believes will be an interesting encounter with Villa on Tuesday night, when the midlands club make the trip to Berkshire.

The deep-lying Dutch midfielder wants the Royals to carry on where they left off after a high level of performance in the second half against QPR, when the Villans visit in midweek.

“I think the game will be with interesting in how we can pick ourselves up and keep going,” said Van den Berg. “We have to be consistent in how we play so hopefully we can be on Tuesday.

“For me the game on Tuesday is just another game, I hope we are ready for it. I’m definitely looking forward to it but I’m looking forward to every game at the moment.”

The Royals are unbeaten at Madejski Stadium so far this season, but Joey insists this is something that does not cross the minds of the Reading players, who are solely focused on winning every game they go into to try and build more points and rise up the table.

“I try not to think too much about the unbeaten home record,” admitted the Dutchman. “I guess it is good that teams are coming a little bit differently to our stadium to try and beat us, but for us it’s just a game we really want to win and how we’re going to do that.
“We have to be confident in what we do and keep going to make sure we are successful in games,” he continued. “When we play well we have to make sure we reward ourselves with three points. We want to keep going and we’re ready for it.”
