Kermorgant ready for Emirates battle if called uponRoyals forward Yann Kermorgant is looking forward to this evening’s clash when the Reading travel to the Emirates in EFL Cup action against the Gunners.
Our French striker is expecting a real test for the Royals and says the match is bound to be stark contrast to Saturday’s meeting with Rotherham in terms of the style of play we encounter tonight.
“They are a really good side and it will be a really tough test for us," admitted the forward. “Maybe they will change a few players and rest a few players but they have a really big squad and some great players.
"I think it will be a real challenge for us, but it’s the kind of game that is like a bonus so we will go out there, do our best and try and win the game.
“It will be completely different test to the Rotherham game at the weekend, with Arsenal’s style of play,” Kermorgant continued.
“As we all know, Arsenal keep the ball and have lots of possession. They are a big team from the Premier League so it is a really good test for us playing against a team that has a similar style of play, who are better at it than we are - and how we try to cope with them.”
Yann is looking forward to the opportunity to go up against fellow countrymen Arsene Wenger and former Grenoble teammate Olivier Giroud in North London saying the Royals have nothing to lose.
“It will be an honour to play against Arsene Wenger and also my friend Oliver Giroud should be back for the game because he is back in training so should be fit. I will be looking forward to playing against him. We have nothing to lose so lets go into the game and try to win.
“I think we’re all keen to play tonight, the gaffer will make the decision about the starting eleven. Whoever plays, it will be a good game to play in and they will give their best to go through.”
