Ahead of the game: Muzzling the Terriers...

23 September 2016

A preview of this weekend's meeting with Huddersfield

Reading v Huddersfield Town
Madejski Stadium
Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 24th September 2016, 3pm

Unbeaten in seven going into this weekend, our meeting with Huddersfield could pose as much of a threat as any of those games that have come before it.

And that’s because David Wagner’s Terriers currently sit top of the pile, following a start to the season which has seen them only drop points at Aston Villa and Brighton so far.  Newcastle, QPR, Leeds and Wolves are amongst those that have tasted defeat.

The odds on the West Yorkshire club maintaining their form throughout the year and earning promotion back to the top tier after a 45-year absence have been slashed – they are fourth-favourites for promotion according to Sky Bet, ahead of recently-relegated Aston Villa.

But the Royals can go within two points of the league leaders on Saturday by earning a win at Madejski Stadium – there is plenty of incentive.

Tickets are still available for our clash with Huddersfield, and if you are a Member Card holder and buy your ticket in advance of three hours before kick-off, you will be eligible for a saving of £3 compared to matchday prices.

The Royals also have a special family section in the Eamonn Dolan Stand, with reduced ticket prices for you and your family.

And, for the final time, Season Ticket holders can bring a friend along for FREE! To find out more about our ‘Bring your own Royal’ offer, just click here.

On a matchday, only very limited overflow parking is available at the stadium for £8 – we advise supporters to consider one of our off-site car parks. Non-Permit holders enter the Stadium via Northern Way only and Permit holders enter via Hurst Way and Northern Way.

If you have a child under the age of 12 in your car, you will be eligible to park in our special family parking area for £8 – spaces are available in advance by phoning the Ticket Office on 0118 968 1313 or visiting the Ticket Office in person. If purchasing in advance, parking permits will be posted or available for collection from the Main Ticket Office prior to matchday.

For the first time this season, James Linington will take to the whistle at Madejski Stadium.  The Newport-based official visited our home just once last season, overseeing our 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers back in November.

Neil Davies and Mark Russell are on duty on the flanks as the assistants, and fourth official for the afternoon is James Adcock.

Despite the Terriers’ lofty league position, EFL title sponsors Sky Bet have Reading down as favourites for the three points.  7/5 is the price you’ll get on a Royals win, 19/10 on a Terriers triumph and a draw is available at 11/5.

Midfield man John Swift is 11/4 to hit the net at any time for the Royals and take his tally to five for the season – and teammate Stephen Quinn, who opened his seasonal account against Brighton in midweek, is 11/2 to notch another.

There is a revamped concourse menu in place for the 2016/17 season, details of which can be found by clicking here.

Piglets, our new pie supplier, are offering ‘pies of the month’ throughout the season – September’s offering is Chicken Jalfrezi or Vegetable Balti or Broccoli Cauliflower & Double Cheese. Click here to see all of our upcoming monthly offerings.

Don’t forget to get your Golden Gamble ticket – the draw, sponsored by STAR, will be made at half-time. Tickets can be purchased from designated sellers based around the stadium, for just £1. There are two prizes up for grabs: a cash prize or an item of Reading FC merchandise, signed by the team! All funds go to the Reading FC Community Trust.
