Goalie previews Huddersfield meeting at Madejski Stadium

Reading stopper Ali Al-Habsi is looking forward to a big week coming up for the Royals, and believes the spirit in the dressing room can help the team continue on their strong run of form starting with a meeting with league leaders Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Royals goalkeeper was full of praise for the performances the team have put in over the past few games, and is confident the squad are moving forward well together as the season progresses.

“There’s a great character in the dressing room now, you can see it,” commented Ali. “It’s not easy to win two games with ten men, but the way we’re playing and the way the gaffer is giving the players confidence is showing that everyone in the team is really involved.

“We need the fans now to get behind the team and help us push forward because we’ve got some really tough games coming up,” he continued. “Top of the league Huddersfield on Saturday and then Brentford away and then Derby... so three big games in the space of a week.”

The Reading shot-stopper says the team have taken a lot of confidence from the results their possession style of football is yielding, and despite the Terriers' lofty league position, the Royals will be approaching the game looking to take maximum points at Madejski Stadium.

“We have faith in the way we play,” said the Royals keeper. “We are seven games unbeaten now and we have to continue because this league season is very long.

“I think the way we are playing now, the way the players are showing the manager their desire, I think we can do a good job.

“It will be an interesting game on Saturday.  We played Huddersfield four times last season, twice in the league and twice in the cup. We know what to expect from them, they are a team that plays good football and a team the presses and fights for 90 minutes, but we are at home and we will be ready for it.

“We have to show good teamwork because we are facing a good team, but with the players and experience we have in the squad we will be giving everything to get the win.”
