Gaffer happy to get back out in front of home fans

7 September 2016

Manager on Madejski return against Ipswich

We’re heading into back-to-back home games, against Ipswich on Friday and the Birmingham the following Tuesday.  And, after a winning visit to Cardiff and an international break, Jaap Stam is keenly anticipating a return to competitive action at Madejski Stadium!

The Royals are as-yet unbeaten on home turf this season – only Brighton, who arrived at the top of the table, have taken as much as a point from their trip to Berkshire so far since Stam’s arrival this summer, while Preston, Plymouth and MK Dons have all been vanquished in league and cup.

“It’s always nice to play at home and with the support of the fans,” said the Royals gaffer, ahead of our evening fixture against the Tractor Boys on Friday.

“That’s what we need, and we need them to encourage the players as well to give them an extra boost to get the result as well.

“The players are willing to work very hard for it and to show themselves to the fans, so everyone is looking forward to this game.

“The fans have done very well for us – that’s what every team needs.  You need to have fans who support the team and I hope that they can do the same on Friday.”
