The Royals beat Ipswich town 2-1 at Madejski Stadium, in a game of three penalties. As the first half drew to a close Grant Ward's handball in the area resulted in a penalty for the Royals which was coolly dispatched by Garath McCleary.

Early in the second period Ipswich were handed a way be into the game when a contentious penalty was awarded by the referee. Tyler Blackett was adjudged to have fouled Brett Pitman, with the latter stepping up to take the spot kick equalising for the away side. The third penalty was awarded in added time after a tangle in the box from a Reading corner, allowing Danny Williams to step up to earn the Royals all three points!
