Readng manager is expecting a close game in Yorkshire against the TykesJaap Stam is expecting an intriguing encounter on Saturday when the Royals travel up to Yorkshire to face newly promoted outfit Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Tykes come into the game following a 4-0 demolition on Wolves at Molineux in midweek, and the Reading manager says his team will be studying their opposition closely before the weekend’s meeting at Oakwell.
“We’ve looked at DVDs of the opposition and we will be training hard for Saturday’s game,” said Stam. “As a staff we’ll be making clips from the games and showing the players clips of footage of Barnsley on Friday, we’ll be doing some tactical bits in training ahead of Saturday’s match.”
“Barnsley are doing very well,” continued the Dutchman. “They won their game on Tuesday night and looked impressive. They’ve had a couple of very good results so far this season but that’s what we’re looking to do as well.”
Despite the good form of Saturday’s opponents the manager insisted the Royals would be heading up north looking for a win, and a good performance to boot.
The former defender has been pleased with possession football his side have been playing and wants it to continue, both at home and away in the league.
“It should be an interesting game on Saturday,” admitted the gaffer. “We’ll go there and see what we can do. Like we always say we’ll see how it goes but we’re going to be going for the win.
“It doesn’t matter if we play home or away, in the style and the way that we want to play we always want to get a result.
“We wanted to win against Birmingham,” he continued. “We dominated the game in possession and wanted to create more chances, but we didn’t do that well enough so we’ll be looking to change that against Barnsley.”
