The gaffer is calling for 100 percent from his team ahead of a tough Ipswich test at Madejski Stadium.Reading boss Jaap Stam is expecting a close encounter on Friday evening against Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town as the Royals return to Championship action after the international break.
The former centre-half says the his side will be concentrating on their own game and ensuring that they produce the right level of performance against the Tractor Boys to build on a positive result last time out in Cardiff.
“We need to focus on our own team, the squad that we have and the quality that we can bring into games," said Stam.
“If we can bring in that quality that we know we have, and everyone is focused the full 100 percent, then we can get a good result.”
The Dutchman says the management team have analysed their opponents in detail and know what to expect from an Ipswich side who have ground out some impressive results on the road so far this season.
“You always look at the opponent, how they want to play, the type of players they have and the quality in their team,” said the gaffer.
“It’s never easy to win your games in the Championship as we know, but in the way we want to play we have improved in the last couple of games.
“We’ve put together a couple of good results, the energy that we put into those games was very good, so I don’t think we should be afraid of any team in the Championship.”
Stam made no secret that Reading would be going for back-to-back wins at home against Ipswich but is expecting the task to be far from an easy one.
“Ipswich are a good team and a tough side. They work very hard to pick up results and that’s what they’ve done so far this season so it’s going to be an interesting game.
