Royals midfielder Joey van den Berg feels the Reading faithful could have a big part to play on Friday evening...Royals midfielder, Joey van den Berg can’t wait to get back to Championship action at Madejski Stadium on Friday evening as the Royals host Ipswich Town under the lights.
The Dutchman is keen to get back-to back wins in the league and feels the fans can have a big part in result against the Tractor Boys, having been impressed by them since joining the club.
“We’re looking forward to Friday, everyone is excited about the game and hopefully we can get a good follow up to the win in Cardiff, that’s what we all want,” said Van den Berg.
“Home games are always different to away games. You always really want to perform in your home games, as you do away from home,” he continued. “In front of your home supporters you always want to give a little bit extra and a little bit more.”
The summer signing feels there has been a real improvement in the Royals since the beginning of the campaign and on a personal level he has been welcomed by the Reading faithful since his arrival in Berkshire.
The 30-year-old is hopeful that, with the fans backing, there are more improvements to come from Jaap Stam’s side.
“We will do our best and hopefully we can keep getting better and better. The fans have embraced me since coming here and I have absolutely no regrets at joining the club, everything is very good.”
“I know there will be times where things are not that positive but when the fans stand behind the team we can get even better.”
