Dates decided for Championship play-off games

12 April 2017

Schedule released by EFL

The EFL have today released information relating to the dates of the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

With five games left to play, the Royals still have work to do to be assured of a place in the top six and a chance to extend the season with a play-off campaign – with the prospect of Premier League football at the end of it!

And initial plans have been laid out in relation to the dates of the campaign, as follows…

As ever, the teams that finish 5th will host the team that finish 4th in the first leg, while the team that finish 3rd visit the 6th-placed club first on the other side of the draw.  And then sides placed 3rd and 4th return home for the second legs, with the aggregate winners meeting in the final at Wembley.

Those two first-leg games are scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th May, 5.30pm (with the return leg on Tuesday 16th May, 7.45pm) and Sunday 14th May, 12pm (with the return leg on Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm).

While the fixture dates for the semi-finals have been arranged, the EFL have not yet announced precisely which of the two ties will take place on the Saturday-Tuesday and which will be played on the Sunday-Wednesday.

The winners will meet in a winner-takes-all fixture at Wembley Stadium on Monday 29th May (kick-off 3pm), with Premier League football in 2017/18 the prize for the victor.
