Royals supporting Premier League initiativeReading FC Community Trust have been taking their work into local schools to deliver school curriculum sessions as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme… and now a range of primary schools in the local area will spend a day at Madejski Stadium as part of the programme!
Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of professional football to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills – it is the most ambitious of the Premier League’s community programmes to date, and aims to support over 10,000 schools by 2019.
Our Community Trust coaches travel to schools around Berkshire and the Thames Valley area every week and help to support the teachers and deliver fun, educational sessions in a range of subjects. The pupils also take part in variety of competitions, including football tournaments, PSHE assemblies, creative writing and reading challenges.
And now St Joseph’s College, Mortimer St John, Calcot Primary, Nine Mile Ride, Springfield Primary, Burghfield Primary, The Pines, Bishopwood, Birch Copse and Wilson Primary will all visit Madejski Stadium in the coming months for a special day of fun activities!
The itinerary for each of the schools’ days at Reading FC includes a football tournament at The Dome in the morning, following by a nutrition workshop to learn about living a healthy lifestyle, a fun maths challenge to support their numeracy work, and finally an in-depth tour of Madejski Stadium itself!
The aim is to use the Reading FC badge to inspire the children and build in with the 4 Premier League Primary Stars values of…
Be ambitious – work hard and never give up on their goals
Be Inspiring – set a great example to others
Be connected – work well with other and in a team
Be fair – treat people equally and think of others
It isn’t the first time Madejski Stadium will host a session from the Primary Stars programme… in December we were delighted to welcome Birch Copse Primary and Piggotts Infants for their final reading session in the home team dressing room, as part of their eight-week Reading Stars project run by the Community Trust.
The Premier League Primary Stars programme is available to every primary school in England and Wales.
