Stay in your seats for our lap of appreciation!

24 April 2017

Stick around after Wigan so lads can thank you for your support…

Whatever way you look at it, the 2016/17 season has defied all of our expectations – so make sure you stick around straight after the full-time whistle on Saturday to give the team some hearty applause on their lap of appreciation.

Who would have predicted that we would be third in the Championship with two games remaining?  And that we would have a chance to wrap up a play-off position, with a shot at earning promotion to the Premier League via a play-off campaign?

Just try to find a preview of the 2016/17 which talked about Reading as promotion candidates…

But we all knew that we had a talented group at Madejski Stadium and they have shown their potential under our gaffer Jaap Stam this season.

It has been a rollercoaster ride at times, but fans of most other Championship clubs would rather be in our position right now – and that’s all thanks to our team’s hard work throughout the week on the training ground, and their remarkable achievements out on the pitch.

15 Championship wins and 5 draws from 22 matches at Madejski Stadium… only once have we ever enjoyed a better second-tier points tally at home in our entire history.

Only a point is needed to ensure a top-six spot against Wigan – we’ll be going for all three to ensure that we’ll be back again for a play-off semi-final.  But whatever happens, please stay in your seats at full-time and applaud the boys, and allow them to show their appreciation in return for all the backing you have given them this season.

All return football buses will depart later than usual after the fixture to allow supporters to stick around at Madejski Stadium and show their appreciation to the team.  Buses will leave Madejski Stadium between 20 and 30 minutes later than usual.  We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Supporters are kindly reminded to remain in their seats at the end of the game and not to encroach onto the pitch.  Any fans who enter the field of play or any adjacent area unauthorised will be subjected to suspension and arrest.  For more information about our ground regulations, click here.
