Royals debutant Leandro Bacuna says the Royals will continue to work hard to improve following a narrow 1-0 defeat at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
Versatile midfielder Bacuna was making his debut in a Royals shirt at Deepdale, with Jordan Hugill's goal mid-way through the first half separating the two sides.
Royals came out and put in an improved performance in the second half, with Bacuna saying the Royals can learn from this defeat.
He said: "I think we didn't start that good but we were a bit unlucky in their goal. I think after that we were quite solid.
"We can learn a lot from this game. We didn't get a lot of second balls, in midfield we let the ball go over our head and we need to track back and be there for the second balls.
"We kept fighting. We created some small chances in bits, but out of this we can get a lot and we put that back together on Tuesday (vs Millwall)."
Bacuna was keen to take the positive elements of the second half performance into Tuesday night's game, in the second round of the Carabao Cup at Madejski Stadium.
On the first half, he added: "We went in the dressing room, talked about it, we came out in the second half and tried to make it right.
"We tried to fight and do the best we can to make the equaliser, unfortunately we didn't get it but we have a lot of positives to take out of it and we'll work on it in training."
