With our home campaign kicking off this week – with three Madejski Stadium matches in eight days! – there are a few changes to our travel arrangements for the coming season.
If you are hoping to park at Madejski Stadium on matchday, you will need to pre-book your place at the ground at least three working days ahead of the fixture – and as well as going via the Ticket Office in person or by phone, you’ll also be able to book your place online via readingfcdirect.co.uk.
Matchday parking at the ground will cost £15 per car, and will not be available to purchase on the day of the game.
There are parking alternatives nearby, including the Old Greyhound Stadium (£200 per season or £10 per match, payable on the day) and Cordwallis (£10 per match, payable on the day). View our Offsite Parking page for more details.
There are also Park & Ride services at Amec Foster Wheeler and Mereoak – parking is free and return tickets are £4 per adult, £2 per child, or £5 for a group ticket for up to five people (max three adults). View the Park & Ride section of our website for further information.
Fans can also pre-book and park at the Garrard Street car park next to Reading Station (£5 for up to five hours or £8 for up to eight hours), and then use the F1 shuttle to reach Madejski Stadium. More information about this option is available on the Park & Ride section of our site.
We have also introduced a new taxi rank at Madejski Stadium in Northern Way for supporters to use after matches.
Fans travelling on the F1 shuttle will be pleased to hear of a reduction in the supporter bus prices because of subsidies provided by Reading Football Club.
As part of their ongoing partnership, Reading Buses and Reading Football Club announced some significant reductions and an extension of their offer for concessionary pass holders on the F1 shuttle on matchdays.
The F1 shuttle, which runs between Reading Station and the Madejski Stadium, will provide a fare drop of 50% for adults and a small reduction for 18 year olds and younger. All returns will be £2 and concessionary pass holders will benefit from a £1 return. Reading Buses have confirmed that single fares can be purchased, but will be charged at the return price.
Users of the F1 shuttle are kindly reminded that for the 2017/18 season, the pick-up point after the game will now be at the main bus stop between car parks 1 and 2, off Royal Way - click here to see the map.
At the same time, the Reading FC subsidised travel for concessionary pass holders on other football buses will continue this season. Concessionary pass holders will be able to travel for just £1 each way on all F numbered services, including the F2 Park & Ride and Stagecoach Services.
A dedicated bus lane will soon be opened on the A33 – meaning quicker and more convenient journeys. Buses will also be given priority when leaving at the end of the match.
Jake Osman, Marketing and Communications Manager for Reading Buses, said: “We are pleased to announce that we have had some extremely positive talks with Reading FC about how we can encourage more people to travel to home matches by bus.
“Reading Football Club is helping to subsidise travel on the F1 shuttles which run as a frequent service from Reading Station stop WS at the bottom of Station Hill.”
Supporters are also reminded that they can save more money by using the simplyMatchday smartcards. These stylish smartcards, come in three different options – Shuttle, Reading Zone and Network Zone.
