WSL1 fixtures released: Royals welcome Sunderland to Adams Park in season opener!

7 August 2017

Royal women will look to hit the ground running in the new WSL1 season in front of a home crowd, against a Sunderland side that has proven tough to beat in recent years.

All three of Reading and Sunderland’s latest league meetings have ended in 1-1 draws, a run which the Royals will be looking to break on September 24th. Reading Women will then travel to Merseyside to face Liverpool Ladies under Friday night lights, in what is set to be an exciting opening week to the season.

Before the Christmas break, Kelly Chambers’ side will host both Birmingham and Chelsea, before travelling to relative league newcomers Bristol City and Yeovil Town, after both earned promotion from WSL2 in 2016.

2018 will begin with a bang for the Royals, hosting both Manchester City and Arsenal at Adams Park in January. We will travel to the West Midlands on the final day of the season in May to face 2017 FA Cup finalists Birmingham City.

The majority of Chambers’ squad are now well into their pre-season preparations, with the exception of England’s Jade Moore, Jo Potter, Mary Earps and Holland’s Mandy van den Berg, following their efforts in the UEFA European Championships.

Van den Berg captained her side all the way to the European title in her home country, and she will be hoping for a similar outcome in the WSL1 this season!

Look out for an announcement regarding our season ticket prices and release date in the next two weeks. We will continue to play our home fixtures at Wycombe’s Adams Park throughout the 2017/18 season, please see below for our full fixture list.
