Stam and Swift looks ahead to Ashton Gate challenge

Royals duo look ahead to Bristol City

24 December 2017

Next up – a Boxing Day bout against Bristol City.

It’ll undoubtedly be a challenging afternoon in the West Country against a side in a vein of confidence, having knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup earlier this week…

“They are doing very well – they had a great result in the cup against United by beating them, which gives them an extra boost as well,” Royals boss Jaap Stam said.

“It’ll be tough to play over there, just like every other game in the Championship!”

Likewise, John Swift agreed – he made his return from injury against Burton, playing the final 30 minutes from the bench.

He hopes that the team might be able to get a result like their visit their last season…

“They’re going to be really confident over the United win – it’ll be a tough game away from home,” said the midfielder.

“But we had a good result over there last year when we came back from behind.

“It’s a good place for us to go – hopefully it’ll be a good atmosphere and a good game, and we’ll come off the pitch feeling better.”
