17 February 2017

Royals stopper calls in to visit 13-year-old Reading fan at home...

Young Royals fan Harvey Hallett contracted meningitis at the start of 2017, and in a bid to try and cheer the youngster up, family and friends of Harvey reached out to the Royals requesting some goodies to help raise his spirits.

Upon hearing about Harvey’s condition the Royals arranged for a signed George Evans shirt to be sent to the 13-year-old as well as a signed photo of goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Harvey was delighted with the gifts and particularly pleased with the signed photo of Ali, because being a young goalkeeper himself Harvey is a big fan of the Reading number one.

When Ali heard Harvey’s story he was keen to be kept up to date with his progress and insisted he visited Harvey when the time was right.
At the start of the week Ali became aware Harvey had returned home from hospital and was able to receive visitors, so contacted the Royals to arrange a visit to the young fan. On Thursday afternoon Ali called in to see Harvey and his parents at home where he spent time chatting with the teenager.

The Omani international captain then presented Harvey with a shirt which he signed shirt, much to the young Royal’s delight.

Ali and everyone at Reading Football Club would like to wish Harvey and his family the best of luck with his recovery, and look forward to seeing them at a game soon!
