Evans buoyed by squad’s determination to improve

Midfielder discusses Royals’ attitude

Things don’t always go your way – that’s inevitable over the course of a 46-game campaign.

But there are things that can be controlled – such as a willingness to keep learning, keep improving, and building the foundations for success.

And despite defeats on each of the last outings to two of the division’s top three teams, those are the kinds of qualities that George Evans has found reassuring in the Royals’ dressing room.

“If you’re not willing to improve, it’s downfall,” said Evans.  “But everyone is looking to improve, and the gaffer wants us to improve each and every game.  Even when we win good games, the major aim is to keep improving again.

“It’s a lot of hard work on the training ground, a lot of clips to look at, so we’ll be working hard to get a result.

“We go into every game in full confidence and knowing that we’re capable of getting a good result.

“And looking forward to the next game, we need to go out and work hard again, learn from mistakes, and go and get three points to move us on.”

The improvement has been evidenced over the course of the campaign – we host Wolves this weekend, and the midfielder believes that we’ve been on an upward curve since visiting Molineux back in August.

“From the last time we played Wolves, we’re a completely different team,” he continued.

“It was the early stage of the season and we didn’t get the result we wanted when went there.

“But this time we’re determined to get the right result when they visit us.”
