Midfielder dissects defeat on the south coast
“Obviously we’re very disappointed – it’s three counter-attack goals, so we need to learn from those mistakes and cut them out,” reflected midfielder George Evans after the Royals’ 3-0 reverse at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion, whose victory sent them top of the table.
“We created some chances and played some great chances at the start. They sat off and allowed us to play, so we got settled into our rhythm nicely and got some good passages of play. If we can convert chances, it changes the game.
“But we’re going to watch the clips of the game and learn from it. We’ll stick together as a group – it’s a fantastic group, as we’ve said before. It’s a tight-knit group and we’ll stick together, learn from our mistakes, and go and get the three points in the next game.
“As a squad, we keep going until the last minute – as we’ve shown throughout the season. We’ve been fantastic all year – we just need to learn from our mistakes and cut out the counter-attacks like today.
“We know the qualities that Brighton have. They have got some fantastic players going forward and they proved that today. They only had a few chances, but they converted them. We knew that before the game and we prepared well, but from our point of view we need to cut out those counters and learn from our errors.”
