Five days to go | Five reasons to be here!

27 February 2017

The Royals host Wolves in Berkshire this weekend... Will you be there?

With the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers to Berkshire this weekend, the Royals are going to need every fan behind them as they push for victory to help consolidate their place in the top six of the Sky Bet Championship.

Here are five big reasons to be at Madejski Stadium come 3pm on Saturday to back your team in their play-off push…

1. Bags of points at home!

The Royals are seventh in terms of home points gained in England’s top four divisions this season! Our strong home form has been the basis for an exciting 2016-17 so far, with 11 wins in Berkshire this campaign.

Reading sit behind the likes of League Two leaders Doncaster Rovers, League One outfit Sheffield United and Championship table toppers Brighton in the home points scoring tally. Stam’s side do boast a higher home total than Newcastle however, and have even gleaned more points at home than Premier League leaders Chelsea thus far!

2. Six left at Madejski Stadium

As we begin to enter the business end of the 2016-17 season the Royals have six big home games which could decide the Berkshire club’s fate. Jaap’s side will be looking for a strong finish to the season in front of a home crowd, as the squad look to consolidate their place in the Championship’s top six.

The Royals will want to bounce back from two defeats on the road when they face 20th placed Wolves in Berkshire. Reading will need every ounce of support the Reading faithful can muster as they look to begin their run-in on top form. As well as Wolves, Reading will welcome Newcastle, Leeds, Blackburn, Rotherham and Wigan to Madejski Stadium in the coming weeks.

3. It’s affordable!

The Royals offer amongst the most competitive home ticket pricing anywhere in the division, so you can come and watch Jaap’s side push for another home win for an affordable price.

As well as our cheap rates on matchday tickets, we also offer fans the chance to purchase their Wolves ticket as part of a four match ticket bundle. This allows home fans to pick any four of the remaining six home fixtures as part of their bundle, saving them up to £25 on four tickets!

4. Revenge…

After suffering a 2-0 defeat earlier-on in the campaign at Molineux, the Royals will be looking to exact some revenge on their opponents from the Black Country when they visit Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals have a good record of righting the wrongs of difficult away results this season, having already beaten both Brentford and Fulham at home after heavy away defeats at Griffin Park and Craven Cottage. Jaap Stam and his team will be looking to add struggling Wolves to that list come the weekend, with a big performance needed to make it a 12th win on home soil in 2016-17.

5. It could be one of our best ever seasons

A top six finish this season will see us celebrate one of the 10 best campaigns in the club’s history. A win against Wolves this weekend will help the Royals in the push for the play-offs, which will certainly be a season to remember for Jaap Stam in his first in-charge at the club. A top six finish would also guarantee a place as one of the club’s top 10 all-time highest league finishes since its formation in 1871.

Some other memorable campaigns have included two Championship title wins and three seasons in the Premier League. All this on top of four forays into the Championship play-off’s in 1995, 2003, 2009 and 2011, with 12 games left to add to that total.
