Tickets for Barnsley and Brentford now available…We picked up four points from our last two games on the road, as we returned triumphant from Birmingham and came from behind to draw at Ipswich.
And now we host two matches at Madejski Stadium in four days – there’s six points at stake against Barnsley and Brentford!
There could be first outings for the likes of Adrian Popa, Jordon Mutch, Reece Oxford and Lewis Grabban in front of the home fans as well – don’t miss out on the home debuts of our winter window signings!
Reading vs Barnsley
Saturday 11th February, 3pm
First up, we host the Tykes this Saturday – and a chance to keep a play-off contender at arm’s length.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side are currently trying to claw back points on their South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, who currently sit four points above them and occupy the final play-off spot.
For us, it’s a chance to keep the pressure on the top two – and to complete a seasonal double, after we earned the win at Oakwell earlier in the year.
Garath McCleary was sent off after he had opened the scoring, but John Swift added our second with a belter… Adam Armstrong struck a sweet volley to get Barnsley back in the game, but the Royals’ resilience resulted in three points!
Reading vs Brentford
Tuesday 14th February, 8pm
And then it’s a chance to get some revenge on the Bees under the floodlights, after they inflicted a resounding defeat on us in September in West London.
Brentford were a bit too hot to handle that evening at Griffin Park – but we showed against their neighbours Fulham that we can get the better of teams when they return to Madejski Stadium!
The Bees weren’t far from recording a memorable win against promotion-chasing Brighton this weekend, but they squandered a 3-2 lead to allow the Seagulls to take a point back to Sussex in the 97th minute.
And they’ll be facing one of their most difficult trips of the season when they come to Madejski Stadium – more teams have left empty-handed that not when they have come to Berkshire this year!
It goes without saying that support is welcomed on every matchday at Madejski Stadium.
But now, as we enter the final third of the campaign, it all seems to matter a little bit more…
Our current tally of 56 points has already surpassed the total we reached in each of the last two seasons – and we’ve still got 16 games to play!
Jordon Mutch and Lewis Grabban both got their first outings in our yellow away strip at Ipswich – they could don the famous blue and white hoops for the first time in the coming week.
So we’re calling on your backing for two crucial games, as we look to dig in our heels at the top end of the table!
