Reading midfielder Danny Williams says the Royals are raring to get back to action on Saturday afternoon when they make the trip to the south coast to face second placed Brighton at the Amex.

Williams knows the weekend will be another big challenge for Reading on the road, but says it is a task the team are relishing as they test themselves against one of the best sides the Championship has to offer.

“We want to playing these games,” said Williams. “As a player you want to test yourself against the best in the division, and there is no better opportunity than Saturday.

“We’ve shown we can get a result against Brighton, we won away there in the League Cup, and we drew against them at home. Obviously they are full of confidence like every team in the top six.”

The midfielder says there was a sense of frustration in the Reading dressing room after Tuesday night’s loss in Huddersfield where the Royals fell to a narrow defeat despite a good performance in West Yorkshire.

The USA international revealed the team are channeling that frustration into preparation for the Brighton game, with the squad determined to bounce back with a positive result.

“It is a very important stage for us in the season,” said the midfielder. “We shouldn’t read too much into the defeat in Huddersfield. Obviously we were frustrated and disappointed but we will analyse it, get over it and we will go again on Saturday.”

“We’ve shown we can win tight games, like when we came from two behind at Bristol for example, or even against Brentford last week. We will analyse our game and turn it around again.
“We’ve come back and bounced back from defeat before,” he continued. “We will have to do that against Brighton.”
