A young Royals side were knocked out of the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening by League 2 outfit Yeovil Town. Reading midfielder Sandro Wieser saw red on the 17th minute, with the scores at 0-0 but the home side made their extra man count taking a two goal lead thanks to strikes from Otis Khan and Francois Zoko.

The Royals did pull one back before the break when when Andrija Novakovich latched on to an in-swinging Josh Barrett free-kick. Despite a lively start to the second half, Reading couldn't find an equaliser, and Yeovil substitute Omar Sowunmi increased the hosts lead with a towering header at the back post.

An unfortunate own goal fro Jake Sheppard put the game beyond doubt for Yeovil, with Josh Barrett converting a late penalty for Reading after 16-year-old Danny Loader was brought down inside the opposition box.
