Joey feels Royals are confident, but not comfortable

Dutchman looks ahead to Rangers clash

There’ll be no resting on laurels for the Royals after a fine run of form at home – that’s the opinion of Joey van den Berg, ahead of this evening’s Sky Bet Championship match with Queens Park Rangers.

Five straight wins were recorded at Madejski Stadium ahead of the abandoned Fulham fixture – and the defender is looking forward to the first home fixture in our backyard of 2017.  But Joey feels there is still room for improvement and an eagerness within the squad to do so.

It also gives the Royals a chance to get back to winning ways after being beaten at Old Trafford by hosts Manchester United in last weekend’s FA Cup tie.

“We’re looking forward to it – when you lose 4-0, you just want to get back on the pitch and get a good result again,” said the Dutchman.

“QPR is the next one on Thursday – there are a lot more games to come and I hope we can achieve what we have done in the last few weeks.

“That’s especially winning games, but also playing good football.  That’s more satisfying than anything else.

“We’re feeling confident at home – but we don’t get too comfortable I hope!  We need to be sharp and we need to be ready for it.  I think we will be.”
