The Royals are set to take nearly 2,000 traveling fans to Bristol City on Monday afternoon as Jaap Stam's side aim to start 2017 on a high!

The Reading manager was delighted to hear that a large number of Reading fans were making the journey along the M4, and was quick to point out the important role they could have to play at Ashton Gate as the Royals bid to take all three points on the road.

"It’s good that we have so many fans going to the Bristol game because we need to have as many of the fans as we can to help us out and to back us up in games," said Stam.
"Especially away from home, because the home team - as we see when we travel - will have the advantage with their home support."

The Reading boss has seen first hand what a lift the fans can have on the team when they really get behind his side, and is hoping Monday afternoon will be another occasion where the traveling faithful can help affect the outcome of the match.

"If we’ve got that many people over there, they can support us and they can help us out by getting behind the players," admitted the manager.

"It gives them a boost and it gives them that good feeling. Having that many fans traveling can make it easier for us to get a result."
