Young keeper signs loan deal at Kenilworth Road22-year-old goalkeeper Stuart Moore has this afternoon signed on loan for League Two promotion-hopefuls Luton Town.
Academy graduate Moore came through the ranks to feature in a Royals first team squad for the first time as an unused substitute in our Capital One Cup win over Portsmouth in August 2015.
He went on to act as understudy to Ali Al Habsi against Everton in the same competition and then in home league games against Charlton and Middlesbrough last season.
In 2016-17, Moore has been a regular member of Jaap Stam’s first team squad, named in the 18 on 14 occasions in total. But Ali Al Habsi’s fine form has kept the keeper waiting to make his Royals bow and Moore will now look to this loan spell at Luton as an opportunity to get regular first team football in a team vying for promotion to League One.
This will be Moore’s second spell on loan, having stood between the sticks for Peterborough United last season – making his professional debut against Swindon in League One last February, playing four games in total for Posh.
And Moore, who played for our Under-23 side in their Premier League 2 draw against Derby last night, joins Nathan Jones’ side to link up with former Royals Academy graduates Johnny Mullins and Lawson D’Ath.
Luton Town play Cheltenham Town this evening and currently sit in fourth place in League Two, four points behind third-placed Carlisle United with a game in hand.
All at Reading Football Club would like to wish Stuart the best of luck in his loan spell in Bedfordshire.
