Toffees take the points in Premier League 2The Royals Under-23 side were downed 3-0 at Goodison Park on Monday evening, as Premier League 2 leaders Everton extended their lead at the top of the division.
The hosts carried a slender lead into the break after Nathan Broadhead struck early on, but within 10 minutes of the restart, Kieran Dowell and Henry Charsley had each added their names to the scoresheet as Toffees opened up a four-point gap at the top of the division.
Everton, who boast a near-perfect record on their own patch this season, went ahead on the 10-minute mark when Jonjoe Kenny stood up a header for Broadhead to latch onto at the far post.
And while the Royals offered stubborn resistance and kept the margin down to just a single goal until the interval, two goals in four minutes for the Toffees wrapped up the win.
The first to strike was Dowell, who drove from the half-way line and – despite being tracked all the way back by striker Danny Loader – he still managed to find room to strike hard and low past Jonathan Bond, doubling the lead.
Charsley added the third in the 55th minute, stabbing home from close range after having his initial effort blocked.
