“It’s good to be back training, we’re all hungry, we want to do bigger and better things this season so...yeah, everyone is really looking forward to what’s to come,” said George Evans upon his return to Hogwood last week.
“We started with tests and so on but training has stepped up again now. We're playing 11 vs 11 and getting used to the tempo again. Everyone’s hungry and wants to do well again this season, we're all very motivated.
“We’re not going to sit on last season, it’s disappointing how it ended but this year we’ll be stronger and we’ll learn from the experience and make sure this year we will be even better.
“We’ve been back training a few days now and we’ve been working on our shape and tactics. It’s exciting to be back and working hard.
“You’ve got to enjoy the summer and enjoy the time off but when you come back you’ve got to be fit and ready to go!”
“I’m really looking forward to going back to Holland, staying at the same place as last season and continuing to work hard. Hopefully we’ll come back fitter and stronger after our time out there too.”
With teammates travelling all around the globe over the summer break, George Evans joined fellow Royals Tyler Blackett and Liam Moore across the pond in the USA.
“I had a good summer” said Evans. “Liam Moore’s wedding was a particular highlight over in America and it was fantastic to be a part of it.
“We’re a close knit bunch on and off the pitch, we all get on really well.”
