George Evans says he is looking forward to the upcoming season, as he hopes to build on 18 successful months as a Royal.
Evans joined the club from Manchester City following several loan spells elsewhere, making his mark as a Royal and following up with his first full Championship season last time around.
He has since become a pillar of the Reading squad under Jaap Stam, making 43 appearances in all competitions last season, something which he is hoping to build on starting against QPR on August 5th.
Speaking about last season in general, Evans said: "For me it was fantastic, I had loan moves from City and you do settle, but not as I'm settled now.
"It's great to be settled into a team and to have played as much game time as I did last year. The outcome was very disappointing but I think that's a bit of fire in the belly for everyone to go again this year."
Evans has been playing his part in pre-season, having started in our 2-2 draw against Gençlerbirligi on Saturday, and he says there has been plenty to take away from our time in Oosterbeek from the trip so far.
"We've had some very tough days out here," he elaborated. "All the lads have been working really hard on the training pitch and it's just shown that they want to prove to the manager that they can play.
"At the same time, it's about buying into the way we want to play tactically. We're spending a lot of time away together so we're learning a lot on and off the pitch with the ball, out on the training pitch so it has been really good for us.
"It's been brilliant, to go and get your first 90 minutes and get the work in, it's good. Nothing better than going out there, completing that 90 minutes and having a good workout.
"Pre-season is all about fitness and unfortunately we didn't get the result, we got the draw in the end, but everyone is feeling fit and sharp and we can see that intensity that we've got has definitely been there!"
