Tiago Ilori says he is enjoying having a full pre-season programme, as it is his first in several years.
Owing to playing in several international tournaments in the past few seasons, including the Olympic Games, the European Under-21 Championship and the Toulon Tournament with Portugal, Ilori revealed that he is feeling the benefits of a full pre-season programme.
The Royals play two sets of friendly double-headers over in Holland, with the first matches taking place on Saturday July 15th, with full coverage set to be available through club social media channels.
Speaking to the club website, 24-year-old defender Ilori said: "It has been five years since I've had a pre-season, so just that is great, proper preparation for the rest of the season.
"Of course, joining the team in January, with my personality it's a great time to bond. Now especially, and in the days coming, I'm going to get to know them a lot better.
"I reckon because there are a few games, everyone is going to be involved, we're all going to have the same sort of minutes so that's good."
Speaking after the first training session, Ilori said he feels ready for the rigours of the 10-day training camp and the rising intensity of pre-season preparations.
"After the flight yesterday and the last few days, they've been slightly lighter. I just want to get back into things.
"After you come back from holiday, you want to get in slowly but it just comes to a time when you want that intensity and that game every week."
