Earlier this week, we introduced supporters to the new crop of promising young Academy stars who have signed professional contracts with the club this summer - and Reading Football Club are delighted to announce that England Under-17 international Danny Loader is set to add his name to that list.
The 16-year-old forward scored five goals in 15 appearances for our Under-18s last season but despite his tender age, also represented our Under-23s on ten occasions!
And at the start of the summer, Loader was picked to represent England as part of Steve Cooper's 18-player squad who travelled to Croatia to compete in the UEFA European U17 Championships.
Loader was one of only three players in that squad who represented a club outside the Premier League - the vast majority called up from the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Danny picked up the club's Maurice Edelston Memorial Trophy for Best Academy Schoolboy as a 15-year-old in 2016. And last season he dipped his toes into Under-23 water, playing Premier League 2 football and even earning experience against first team opposition as part of our Category One side's Checkatrade Trophy campaign in 2016-17.
Loader has returned to Hogwood Park to train with Jaap Stam's first team squad this pre-season and he joins a long list of names - Legg, Andresson, Novakovich, Smith, East, Sheppard, Ward, Rinomhota, Frost, Howe, Medford-Smith, Holsgrove, Driscoll, House, Rollinson, Shokunbi, Coleman, Holmes and Sparta - who have committed their future to the club in 2017.
He will sign his first professional contract as a Reading player at the end of August when the England international turns 17 years of age. Congratulations Danny!
Another one of our own...
