There are a lot of younger players in our pre-season camp in the Netherlands – it wasn’t all that long ago that Liam Moore was in the same kind of situations.
The 24-year-old is a senior member of the squad, despite his relatively young age… and he has been impressed with the qualities and attitude that the Academy graduates have been showing during their time in Oosterbeek.
Nine youngsters on tour haven’t yet played competitively for the first team – but they have some good influences around the place.
“We had a really good group last year; credit to the young lads who have come on board this year as well,” said Moore.
“Everybody gets on really well – there’s good banter, but when it’s time to work, we work.
“Fair play to them. They’ve taken their chance. It’s a great chance for them to kick on.
“The senior boys and the older boys here are good – they’ll put an arm around them and help them out.
“But it’s down to them and I think they’ve really taken that on board.”
Next up for the team is another double-header of games against Sparta Rotterdam and Cercle Brugge on Saturday, before the squad head back to England for the final fortnight of pre-season prep.
