Reading manager Jaap Stam says he brought in striker Jón Daði Böðvarsson because he fulfils the criteria of what he wants to bring to the team this season.
Böðvarsson had a solo training session on Sunday morning following his arrival in Holland in the early hours of Saturday.
Following international duty with Iceland, he returned to training relatively recently as he steps up his fitness ahead of the new season - and will join in with his first team session on Tuesday with his new colleagues.
“Jón Dadi came from Wolves and didn’t have a lot of training, to be honest. So he needs to catch up with the rest of the team.
“We’re going to do that this week of course, he’s the type of player that can help us out going forward with the strength and the pace that he has, and that’s what we need in the team.
“Like I said before, we’re always looking for certain players with certain quality, and we need to be inventive.
“But in bringing certain players in, we can hopefully make a difference together with the way of playing."
