Action more important than words for Joey

Midfielder previews Hillsborough visit

With just nine games to go, Joey van den Berg is keen that the Royals can turn their plans into affirmative action on the pitch and get the right result away at Sheffield Wednesday.

Our Friday-night visit to Hillsborough is our last game before the upcoming international break; Reading go in off the back of a 3-0 reverse to Preston North End last weekend, while the hosts suffered a 2-0 defeat last time out to Aston Villa.

“It was very disappointing last Saturday but there is always an opportunity to bounce back and I hope we do, because after a good point against Newcastle it was a shame we couldn’t get a victory Preston,” Joey said.

“Hopefully everybody has the same feeling that they want to do better in Sheffield, we can do it and we need to.  We need to act instead of talking – it’s up to us now.

“The way we have lost the games, the main and important thing is that we learn from those defeats.  We need to act, we’ve talked all season about there being a lot of games, but the games fewer and fewer so we need to get results.

“We are looking forward to Friday, they are a big club with big history but that doesn’t say anything to us. We need to get there and believe in ourselves and put in our best performance.

“I’m confident we can go there and do it.  Preparations are going well this week it has been a little different in terms of days with the game on a Friday. I’m looking forward to the game and seeing how they respond but more importantly how we respond.

“We need to look to ourselves and pay attention to how we play and how we are going to stick to our own plan to try and win the game.”
