Jaap speaks squad availablity ahead of Friday night's trip to South Yorkshire...

Reading manager Jaap Stam had some positive team news regarding Royals’ defender Liam Moore as the team gear-up for Friday evening’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

After sustaining an injury in Reading’s meeting with Newcastle last week, Stam says Moore is recovering well.

“Liam Moore is looking in good shape with his injury," said the manager. “It wasn’t as bad as we thought and that is very positive for everybody I think.

“There are some niggles here and there, especially at this part of the season. Moving towards the end of the season, players are getting tired because some players have played a lot.

“They are tough games and hard games and that means you have to work very hard to get results, so I think that’s quite normal but overall I think the team is quite good.”

The Royals have been dealt a number of injury set-backs this season, especially in defence, with the manager admitting that at times it can be difficult with rotating the back-line.

The manager has been impressed however with the players that have come in to fill those positions, and is hoping that can continue in the final run in of fixtures.

“You do hope and look for consistency not just in defence but in every department of the team,” admitted Stam. “But sometimes you do need to make changes and that is why you have quite a big squad.

“If there are injuries or suspensions players need to come in, fill in and do the job. For us it is important that players stand up and do a great job as well.”
