Royals duo to front Former Players Association event next month...After many successful events with former managers and players, the Reading FC Former Players' Association are excited to welcome two current players who will talk to supporters at the Tilehurst Royal British Legion on Wednesday 5th April 2017.
Chris Gunter and John Swift have featured in the vast majority of our first team games this season as the Royals have climbed the table and go into the final eight games of the season with a play-off position very much within our grasp.
Gunter, set to become the joint third most-capped Welsh players in history if he is picked to take on the Republic of Ireland tomorrow, is in his fifth season with the Royals and has already made more than 200 appearances for the club after signing from Nottingham Forest in 2012. Supporters will be able to hear all about his Premier League experience with Reading, working under a number of different managers at the club, and the success he enjoyed on the international stage in Wales' magnificent run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals!
Swift, who too is on international duty with England's Under-21s this week, has represented his country at all levels from under 16 through to the U21s, all before arriving at Reading last summer from Chelsea. He made an immediate impact at the Madejski Stadium, scoring on his debut as the Royals opened the season with 1-0 win over Preston. He has 32 Reading appearances to his name, and he has scored an impressive 8 goals to date.
The evening will be hosted by former Reading FC player, and Welsh international, BBC Berkshire's Ady Williams. The two players will need little introduction as Ady kicks off the evening, before fans get an insight into life at Reading Football Club under the management of Jaap Stam.
After a break for food, a question and answer session between the players and the audience will get underway. Tickets for the evening are on-sale for £20, which includes entry and fish and chip supper. Doors and Bar opens at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
This event seems certain to be popular so please book early on the Association's website - www.readingfcformerplayers.co.uk/events
