Ahead of the game: The second leg…

15 May 2017

Preview of the decider at Madejski Stadium

Reading vs Fulham
Madejski Stadium
Sky Bet Championship, play-off semi-final second leg
Tuesday 16th May 2017, 7.45pm

We’re two wins from the Premier League.

But we can’t think about the second step and a Wembley trip until we clear the first hurdle – and that comes on Tuesday against Fulham in the second leg of our play-off semi-final.

All square it ended at the Cottage; there’s no away-goals rule in the play-offs, so this game becomes a straight shoot-out for the final.  Winner takes all.

A determined and dogged display from the Royals put us in a healthy position heading into the second leg… and now we’re 90 minutes away from a decider.  It’ll be decided on the night; that might require extra-time and penalties.

Tickets are still available to buy; Season Ticket holders and Half Season Ticket holders can currently buy 4 per person.  They’re also on sale to Members with 50+ points (4 per Member) and those with 25+ points (1 per Member).

Click here for all the ticket information you need for the fixture.

Please note, queues for ticket collections on the day of the game are expected to be much longer than normal! As a club, we encourage all supporters to get to Madejski Stadium as early as possible to ensure there is as little delay as possible and that you are in your seats well in advance of kick-off.

Traffic levels will be much higher than usual - a full house is expected for this massive clash and the game kicks off at the earlier time of 7.45pm on Tuesday night. Don't be caught out...get to the stadium early and allow yourself lots of extra time for your journey to the match.

Because of emergency repair works, traffic lights on Berkley Avenue will cause traffic delays.  Alternative routes are Bath Road and IDR A33 or M4 from J12 to J11.

On a matchday, only very limited overflow parking is available at the stadium for £8 – we advise supporters to consider one of our off-site car parks. Non-Permit holders enter the Stadium via Northern Way only and Permit holders enter via Hurst Way and Northern Way.

If you have a child under the age of 12 in your car, you will be eligible to park in our special family parking area for £8 – spaces are available in advance by phoning the Ticket Office on 0118 968 1313 or visiting the Ticket Office in person. If purchasing in advance, parking permits will be posted or available for collection from the Main Ticket Office prior to matchday.

On home matchdays, any cars parked in excess of 2 hours at Costco South Oak Way will be subject to a penalty charge of £60 (reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days). This will be enforced using number plate recognition CCTV (ANPR).

Martin Atkinson is the man in the middle – and he’s no stranger to a big match.  Within the last month the official has refereed a Manchester derby in the Premier League and a Madrid derby in the Champions League semi-final.

Stuart Burt and Adam Nunn will be his assistants, and Paul Tierney will be the fourth official.

The Royals are 21/10 to book a trip to the final in 90 minutes according to EFL title sponsors Sky Bet, while Fulham have again been named favourites at 6/5 to lead at full-time.  Odds are 5/2 for the game to go to extra-time.

And Sky Bet are offering a price boost on Yann Kermorgant to score in a Reading win in normal time at 5/1, while a Royals 2-1 win is boosted to 12/1.

Young supporters can visit the Royals Fun Zone, just outside the Eamonn Dolan Stand, Gate 6. Football based games will be available for young fans to put their skills to the test! The Fun Zone will also be open at half-time for supporters to come and have fun.

And thanks to our Official Pouring Rights Partner, Heineken, Royals fans can enjoy a beverage at the Fan Zone before the game. Located outside the East Stand, the area is an ideal place to catch up and enjoy a drink with fellow fans before the action kicks off!

We have introducing fresh bean to cup coffee in the Fan Zone which is in addition to the fresh coffee fans can buy outside the Eamonn Dolan Stand. Why not swing by and grab a cup before the game!

In the stadium bowl, we will be screening footage of some of our best wins of what has been a magnificent season so far. So take to your seats early and relive some of our best bits from 2016-17.

There will also be a Master Blaster firing prizes into all four stands ahead of kick-off. Another reason to get into your seats early!

Don’t forget to get your Golden Gamble ticket – the draw, sponsored by STAR, will be made at half-time. Tickets can be purchased from designated sellers based around the stadium, for just £1. There are two prizes up for grabs: a cash prize or an item of Reading FC merchandise, signed by the team! All funds go to the Reading FC Community Trust.

Importantly, be sure to be in your seat before the teams emerge from the tunnel. A blue or white flag has been placed on every home supporter's seat ahead of kick-off and we want to give the players a real boost before a ball has even been kicked, with a visual spectacle that will demonstrate your support for Jaap Stams side on Tuesday night.
