Defender on this weekend’s trip to the Cottage“We’ve matured, we’ve grown, we’ve improved and we’ve learned,” said defender Liam Moore, reflecting on the disappointment we suffered last time we visited Craven Cottage.
“It was a completely different team out on the day. There were injuries and suspensions and I’m sure that Fulham won’t be taking that game into consideration either because if they did then they’ll be going in with a false sense of security.
“They know that we’re a better team than we showed on the day. And we got a positive result next time around.
“It’ll be an interesting game; all form and previous results go out the window in the play-offs, so it’s a whole different ball game. Play-offs can do crazy things to people.”
The centre-half has had a taste of the Premier League before as a Leicester City player… he feels that the Royals are somewhat ahead of schedule in being in the post-season hunt via the play-offs, but doesn’t want to let that opportunity slip through the fingers.
“It’s been a fantastic season,” he continued. “A third-place finish in the Championship is fantastic and a great achievement for all the players. But an opportunity arose through our own performances this season – and we’re three games away from the big time.
“Maybe I wasn’t expecting it and other people weren’t, but let’s give our all now.
“I’d love to be back in the Premier League for lots of different reasons. But one of the main ones is through the knowledge I’ve learned this season from the gaffer and the rest of the coaching staff. I’d love to test myself against at that level again knowing the stuff I know now, which I didn’t know 12 months ago.
“The opportunity could come along and if it does, let’s try to snatch it with both hands.”
Make sure you’re booked in for the second leg; we want to have a night to remember at Madejski Stadium. Click here for all the information you need for our home tie on Tuesday.
