Make it a memorable Madejski night! It’s up to you to do us proud!Across the last 48 hours, every home supporter’s seat at Madejski Stadium has been given the gift of a matchday flag! Now, we need your help to make the stadium come to life!
In 2006, arguably the most iconic image of Madejski Stadium was taken from the top of the South Stand as Royals supporters helped us ‘Raise The Hoops’ and deck our home in blue and white in honour of what had been an historic season. It also marked what was to become a record-breaking afternoon!
And two years ago, Wembley witnessed a visual spectacle when blue and white t-shirts formed hoops around the home of football as tens of thousands of Royals fans spurred us on against Arsenal in our first FA Cup Semi-Final since 1927! Like this season, we’d been written off by so many. But we certainly threatened to upset those odds!
On Tuesday night, Jaap Stam’s Royals welcome Fulham to RG2 in the second leg of our Championship Play-Off Semi-Final. It’s all square going into Tuesday evening’s momentous clash and we’re expecting a full house at the Madejski!
Our season is at stake. Time to carve out some more Royals history.
In his official programme notes for the final issue this season, Jaap Stam has spoken about how he wants his players to ‘play with their hearts’ and he has asked you, our fans, to ‘give us that extra push when we need it.’ Now…it’s down to you.
We want you to roar…from start to finish.
And we want you to hold the Royals crest aloft and wave your flag when the teams emerge from the tunnel!
Your seat will have either a blue or white flag attached to it when you arrive at the stadium and, with your help, we could create a visual spectacle to remember at Reading. But we need you.
Kick-off is earlier than a normal midweek match at the Madejski with the second leg kicking off at precisely 7.45pm on Tuesday night. As a club, we cannot encourage you enough to arrive as early as possible at Madejski Stadium…you can’t back the boys or make any noise if you are stuck on the A33 come kick-off!
With a huge crowd expected, traffic will be heavier than normal. At 7.22pm, don’t tweet to ask us to delay kick-off…instead, if you can, please just leave lots of time to get here! Take the afternoon off. Come straight from school or college. Leave work early if the boss doesn't mind!
Queues for ticket collectionswill be longer than usual and it is imperative that the stadium is full when the teams stride out just before kick-off. So leave yourself as much time as possible to get to the stadium in anticipation of a hotly-anticipated second leg.
Even if you're not collecting tickets or tackling the traffic, get here early anyway! There is lots going on in and around Madejski Stadium tomorrow evening and you can get on site early to soak up the atmosphere as it builds.
As for the flags…embrace it! Wave them high in the air, watch a sea of blue and white loop around all four stands and be proud that you support the Royals. It's simple. Just help us to help the team...give them a boost before a ball has even been kicked!
None of us are going to make the teamsheet in person on Tuesday night. We're not going to be in Jaap's eighteen. But don’t underestimate yourselves as fans. We’re all in this together. Back the boys…it’s all we ask.
Nineteenth…seventeenth…third! This has been a season that has exceeded all our expectations. But let’s not take this massive game for granted! One. Last. Push.
